The Town of Caledon, together with the Cities of Brampton and Mississauga, are designing a home energy retrofit program through the Peel Residential Energy Program (PREP). The goal is to help homeowners conserve energy and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

From December 2022 through January 2023, Caledon residents were encouraged to complete a survey to help the Town better understand their needs. Thank you for your participation!

Project Background

The benefits of home energy retrofits go well beyond helping the environment and include:

  • Improved comfort and health
  • Lower energy bills
  • Reduced noise
  • Added home value

Home energy use accounts for 20% of greenhouse gas emissions in Caledon, mainly due to the use of natural gas for space and water heating. The average Ontarian spends $2,128 on energy every year.

Ontario Household Energy Consumption, 2019 Homeowners can make a positive impact by reducing energy usage (e.g. turning off the lights), improving energy efficiency (e.g. insulating to prevent heat loss) and switching to lower carbon sources of energy (e.g. heat pumps and solar panels).
