The Bolton Secondary Plans Review has begun. This project will prepare a modern and innovate planning framework for built form and land use to guide intensification and land use change in this area to the 2051 planning horizon.
There are some primary goals for the project. By its completion, the Bolton Secondary Plans Review will:
Consolidate the six (6) existing Secondary Plans for Bolton into a single modern Secondary Plan for the existing Bolton community that can guide development in the area to the 2051 planning horizon, and integrate with new Secondary Plans for the expanded Bolton area;
Analyze the potential for a second Bolton area GO station on the Caledon-Vaughan GO rail line in the proximity of Queen Street/Highway 50, which could be designated as a Major Transit Station Area, and act as a catalyst for mixed use intensification in this area;
Complete a detailed planning study of the proposed Focused Study Area along the Queen Street corridor from the rail line to Mayfield Road, to put in place a modern and innovative planning policy framework (built form and land use) to guide intensification and land use change in this area to the 2051 planning horizon; and,
Address the interface and compatibility of mixed use/residential intensification adjacent to an existing dry industrial area and determine options for the future that consider the long-term viability of the dry industrial area.
